LYB Christmas Mini Album

Hi all!
I wanted to share my Christmas mini album with all of you... Now that Christmas is over, many of us are scrapbooking the holiday events and I came up with this little mini album for all of the Christmas Concert pictures I had from this year. I finally had a year when the kids' clothes actually almost coordinated with my paper! Yay!

I made this Little Yellow Bicycle mini album for my cute “Before the Christmas Concert” shots. I had two chipboard covers (6 x 6) and then just cut pages out of the paper and glued two together to form each page (then they were double-sided and thick enough). Then I punched holes using my Crop-A-Dile and found some ribbon and voila! I got the idea for the reindeer from Tim Holtz "12 Tags of Christmas" that I always learn a ton from reading.

I used the following supplies:

I am actually really surprised when I see all the materials that I used! I die cut everything out of cereal boxes or old packaging and then coloured using the stains, Stickles, or Crackle Paint. I coloured all the paper flowers with stain as well. It was neat to see the variance in colour when applying stain to paper and cardboard with different colours and levels of absorbency. Some things needed a few coats to look right! Some never did end up looking quite the way I had imagined, but I learned a lot! I hope you can see past my terrible photos and get some ideas for your Christmas scrapbooking. Unless of course you are already caught up...I am usually scrapbooking Christmas until well after Easter myself!

Well I'm back....a little later in the day than planned (actually it's the evening). I've been busy getting back into our daily routine, unpacking and huge amounts of laundry. But alas, blog time.

I've decided that I would like to dedicate Monday's as an Inspirational Day. To some of us, Monday defines a fresh new beginning to the week, while others, have thoughts of getting back to the grind. I think my thoughts are generally the latter, but perhaps a little inspiration will get us pumped for the week.

I've decided that I would make my third inTention (from Jan 2 post), "making time for myself", the Monday Inspiration. When I think of this inTention, it doesn't refer only to making physical time, but anything that will make me be a better me. This can be doing something I am passionate about, it could be working on a healthier lifestyle, or just having the feeling of accomplishment for doing something for myself that I seem to always put off.

Today, and for the rest of the week I will tackle an hour of guilt free time for myself and to drink my 8 glasses of water a day. (There is a book I started on my holidays and I am looking forward to finishing it, guilt free). What would you choose to reward yourself? Will it be doing a page, or sitting by the fireplace and reading a good book?

I would love for you to share what you would do by making time for yourself.

As you can see, I'm not the best writer, so I hope that made sense....please hang in there....I can only get better. (hopefully) lol.

Well, I am finally back from my amazing holiday....it was sad to leave, but coming home is always nice too! We had a fantastic time!

But now that I am back, it's time to get into the swing of things!!!

First of all, I would like to share with you the winner of the "make a comment during my Hawaiian vacation".... the winner of the beautiful Hawaiian surprise is..... Sue P! Yahoo Sue! I hope to see a layout done with these awesome hibiscus laser cut corners that I found.

I am finally back with my layout challenge! A challenge it was. My layout is completely different from how I started it or even invisioned. I couldn't find a place to develop any pictures, so I just used a postcard for now. The shells are the only items I purchased from the island other than the postcard. I bought a puku shell necklace and took it apart and adhered them with glossy accents. The paper (isle pacifique), the flowers and double sided peel offs are all by Harmonie. My daughter, Madyson made a few flowers from the patterned paper. I used some sand from the beach and adhered it to the page using the double sided peel offs, and lastly, I used sweet basil Glitter Ritz on the leaves, which are also adhered with peel offs from Harmonie.

I look forward to seeing your layout created with minimal supplies!

A Challenge to you....

Aloha Everyone,

We are still here in beautiful Maui....a few more days to go. My husband and daughter have gone on another snorkeling tour today and I decided to decline. I have been swaying ever since I've been here, and being on another boat might do me in!

Before I left home, I had time to grab only a few scrapbooking items (ran out of time & room) to bring with me, just in case I could find some time to create.....Since I only have minimal supplies (not even a paper cutter), this will be a challenge and thought it would be a good challenge for you too! What I brought with me: some cardstock, patterned paper, tape runner, glossy accents, double sided peel offs, glitter, brads, flowers, smash pen, and scissors. Note: I have found a few Hawaiian nick nacks along the way, but that's it!

My challenge to you: Choose a few pieces of cardstock, patterned paper, a few embellishments, adhesive, scissors, and a journaling pen. Please do not use a papercutter, cricut or die cut machine. You may post your layout to FB or my email address. Let's make the challenge deadline for Sunday evening, January 15, 2012. Every layout will be entered for a chance to win a Hawaiian Surprise!

Island Surprise!

I've been having a wonderful time here in Maui, and what could make it even better other than a scrapbooking store on the island. The store here is called, The Island Paperie. It's full of Hawaiian paper, embellishments and laser die cuts, all with a tropical theme. Of course I couldn't leave without buying something.... so I thought I would have a little giveaway for a Hawaiian surprise! Happy New Year!!

I hope all of you had an amazing Holiday Season, and Happy New Year!

We spent our holidays in Vancouver (where Geoff & I are originally from) with our families and then travelled to Maui to ring in the New Year. We are still here enjoying the scenery, sun and sand.

It's hard to believe we have entered a New Year, 2012!! I am soooo excited for this year ahead of us. I've never been one who has made many New Year Resolutions, for I haven't always been accountable to the HUGE goals I usually make. A friend of mine, Wendy T, made a mini album a few years ago, titled, ''InTENtions'' and I have always loved the concept. InTENtions doesn't sound as rigid for some reason. So I would like to share a few of my InTENtions with you.

1. To become a faithful blogger
2. To conquer some of my fears
3. To make time for myself

A year has past since I purchased Scrapbooking Fanatics. What a year it has been! At the time of purchase, my life was a whirlwind, on top of tackling a NEW ADVENTURE. The challenge in front of me was much bigger than I had ever imagined.... if you thought Jayme was an amazing individual, try to keep up with all that is needed to be done to make SF happen. (Jayme, I will gradually get there!) Running a business has already taught me so much. I knew I would have a HUGE learning curve regarding the store, but I didn't realize all the other lessons that I would need to learn along the way. This brings me to my first 3 InTENtions.

I have spent my first year with SF learning the website, ordering, and a whole lot of computer garble (my girlfriend says I'm the least technical 'Japanese' person she has ever encountered...lol...but so true), that there hasn't been much time for social media & networking. I am looking so forward to getting the blog on its feet and sharing with all of you. I hope you will enjoy my concept, some original SF ideas with a few new ones.... stay tuned.

I'm sorry this is long winded, but I promise this won't become a habit...I just wanted to share that InTENtions number 2 are to do with the business teaching me about myself (which perhaps I will share later so this entry won't be as long) and lastly, making time for myself....as I sit on our lanai in Hawaii, I have realized for me to accomplish ALL with a clear mind and to do the best I possibly can, I need time to feel the breeze, watch the palm trees sway and smell the lovely Hibiscus' that are growing around me....

I hope all of you are looking forward to 2012 as much as I am, and I look forward to chatting with you sooner than later!

Basic Grey Page-of-the-month program 2011

Basic Grey's page-of-the-month is back and better for a third year in 2011!

These kits contain instructions, papers and embellishments from their latest collections.

The program will run from March 2011 through February 0f 2012.

The kits are shipped two months at a time and are $20.00 per month.

The 2011 program will work essentially the same as 2010's. Unfortunately, they WILL NOT be giving a free 12 x 12 album as an incentive this year. The good news is, that if you would like to participate in the POTM for 2011, I would like to purchase a Basic Grey 12 x 12 album for you! (Yahoo!)

The great change-over is complete and WE ARE BACK!!! I am happy to introduce you to Sandy Hobbs as the new owner of Scrapbooking Fanatics. With all there is to learn the blog has taken a little break but now we are ready to jump back in. We are so glad you've joined us!

Scrapbooking Fanatics has added some great new product from Ranger- Adirondack Color Washes! Check out these videos for a bit more info on them. They essentially work like other spray inks, but have that added 'Ranger' touch for their ability to react with water and blend beautifully!

And then I love this video that shows how you can use water to remove some of the sprayed ink to highlight an element within your project!

On another note, we are gearing up again for Basic Grey's Page of the Month program. This is (I believe) the third year Basic Grey has run the program, and will be Scrapbooking Fanatics second year participating.

You will receive 6 shipments a year, with 2 kits in each box; the first two kits will be ready to go in March 2011 and will end with the February 2012 kit. Each kit will be about $20 (final cost is yet to be confirmed, but all indications are that they will be priced the same as last year).

The embellisments are the Letters and Leaves I did in a prevous post, click here ...to see the tutorial using recycled plastic and Ranger Alcohol Inks. The journal card is from " October Afternoon - Farm Fresh: Wild Card. This layout is of our special boy Arron, he is such a poser and worked very hard to compile and preserve all these leaves for my photo shoot.

This layout is of my youngest daughter and her two children; an early morning pose, on the First Day of School. I used Delilah Chipboard Fonts for the word "Rock". All layers of patterned paper and the word 'FAMILY', are from the Pyrus Collection line. As well, I used the Chipboard Embellishments that go with this collection..What's not to love...when you are Falling in love with FALL using this collection line.

My scrapbook page is my oldest daughter with her first born...they look so cuddly snuggled together at the park feeding the geese...I created my own background paper by Distressing with ink pads, using various colors of Tim Holtz Distress inks. I wanted to merge some harmony between the Pyrus patterned paper and the photos...The leaf vine in the right corner is from the Sticker sheet, The two Birds are from the Pyrus Chipboard package and I love...love the Pyrus 'Take Note' embellishements..

And you thought I was finished. Basic Grey it is like the song that never ends.. I still have four more layouts to share...a bit later. This scrapbook page is my oldest son and his family. This picture was shot at the top of Nose Hill in Calgary Alberta. The tonal harmony of the rocks and trees is a perfect match with Pyrus Collection...I used Alpha Stickers, Chip Stickers, Ribbon Tape and Epoxy stickers from Basic Grey - Pyrus Collection Line.

Using Ranger Alcohol Inks on Recycled Plastic - Tips and Techniques Tuesday

Hello to Scrapbooking Fanatics Readers.

Today I want to share with all of you Tips and Techninques you can apply when using some of my favorite products from the Scrapbooking Fanatics Store.

You will need the following products:

Applicatior with felt pad, Tim Holtz Blending Solution and Ranger Alcohol Inks. Why not try the new Brights and Lights collections, these colors lend quit a unique colorant spectrum when applied to Glossy Cardstock and Clear Plastic.

You can use any Recycled Plastic, my samples came from all my Tim Holtz Texture Fades Folders...nary a scrap of plastic goes in my garbage can. I use a pair of craft scissors and cut into flat pieces so they are ready to use.

My favorite products Tim Holtz Alterations line: Sizzix Bigz Dies, these dies can cut through the heavy plastic like butter. I have an older Big Shot Machine, but I am hoping to acquire the new Tim Holtz Die Cutting Machine...Click HERE Jayme has this amazing machine on preorder..

Another staple product I use is my Ranger Non Stick Craft Sheet. This product is extremely durable, flexible and heat resistant. Just wipe and reuse again.

First Step

Apply two to three colors of Alcohol Inks along with Blending Solution to the Applicator with the felt pad attached

Step Two

Apply inks with the applicator, shifting your hand motions by altering light to heavy pressure and then change with a rocking movement and then add a stippling action. Doing this will help you to achieve a soft gradient look and a variance of designs to your plastic art piece.

I repeat this step two to three times, reapplying Alcohol Inks and Blending Solution. Often, I will also change the Color Combination of Ranger Alcohol Inks. Sometimes I allow the plastic to air dry before applying a different color combination..... Experiment and have fun !!!!

Third Step

The first picture is of a few samples I did trying to achieve the Tonal Harmony of Fall Colors. Next step, chose your Tim Holtz Bigz Dies and cut with your machine. Almost finished...!!!!

Final Step

I adhere the Plastic Diecuts to white cardstock. I love to use white cardstock as it showcases the vibrancy of Alcohol Inks. To adhere the two diecuts together I stipple the Ranger Glossy Accents with an old brush onto the white cardstock.

I now have some finished pieces, ready to embellish Cards, Altered Art and or Scrapbook pages.

Last Thursday I joined Jackie, Connie, Kim and Cathie to 'step out' Cathie Allan's article for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. There was a little spritzing going on!

And a whole lotta stamping!

Me and the fabulous Miss Cathie! Self portrait- have never figured out how to do that properly, but it doesn't matter.... we laugh so much when we are together.

This is me after several washings.... a reinker exploded all over me and I was instantly made green. It is now a week later and my cuticles are still colored! What is 'stepping out' an article? When you look at the step-by-step article in Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine, you are not looking at pictures of one project, taken as it was being completed. The project was actually created 40 times, stopping at different points to create each of the photographs! It takes a group of us all day to create all the pages ready for photographing- and it takes a little bit longer when you lose the lid of a reinker in a squeeze and glob it all over one of those pages....

Many of the Canadian Scrapbooker gals are at the Scrapbook Carnival in Calgary September 24-25. Head on down to the Roundup Center and check out the layout contest, make and takes, great shopping and classes!

Last weekend Scrapbooking Fanatics hosted a crop in Elk Point Alberta- so many laughs! It is a lot of work to set up for these events, but always so much fun! Avery was the photographer here:0)

Now, I am trying to remember what I have added to the store in the past few weeks- I missed posting last week due to all the above fun!

Here is another adorable card made with a stamp from CC Designs I have one layout to share with you today. I used Prima "Paisley Road Paper", you can purchase it here: at Scrapbooking Fanatics
The Prima Flower was sprayed with two different colors of Smooch Spritz

I added some Stickles and Smooch to bling things up a bit! The title was cut with my cricut and then smooched up!

Technique Tuesday

This weekend, at the Scrapbooking Fanatics Fall Crop, I learned how to make these YUMMY paper roses. A BIG THANK YOU to Carrie for taking the time to teach me how!!!! I am now addicted, every layout and card that I made this week end, has these flowers on them now!!!!!

First, cut a free hand circle, about 2-3 inches wide, then cut a spiral leaving a base once you get to the centre. This will be your base to glue your flower.

Make sure you cut a fairly thin sprial, the thicker your spiral, the taller your flower will be and since you don't want your layout or card not to be too bulky, you need to keep it thin.

You can ink the edges before you start to roll your flower.

Now, start rolling from the outside. You want to keep it in a tight roll.

Use a srtong liquid glue, I used Tombow Multi liquid glue. Put a dollop on that centre peice....then place your rolled up flower and let it unroll a bit. You can let it unroll as much as you like.

Then you can add stickles or glimmer mist or even some pearls to the middle. So much fun!

Here are my finished flowers. This cute little card uses a stamp from CC Designs! Isn't she adorable?

Friday Challenge

Happy Friday!! I hope you all enjoy your upcoming weekend and can manage to sneak in some crafting time for yourself.
My challenge for you today is to "Scrap Your Faith", otherwise known as "Faithbooking"....create a layout or project centered around your faith...notice I did not say religion but that can definitely be your faith if you so choose and so you should scrap about it....and if you are not religious, create something centered on what or whom you believe in or trust.... Definition "Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing."

Here's a layout I had done recently which contains a bible quote...which states "stand firm in the faith...be strong".

Rose Moka "Delirium"

Did you know that "Rose Moka" is a Canadian company? Wonderful to see some Canadian women carving a niche for themselves in the scrapbooking world. Jayme had sent me the Rose Moka "Delirium" line to work with and I fell in love with the bold rich colors and graphics. The papers are also heavy weight high quality and easy to work with.
My first layout below features the Rose Moka Delirium Mini Alphas, Blue Lagoon and Mojito papers, American Crafts Thickers "Berry", Prima "Eclatte" flowers, Basic Grey Ribbon Doilies "Olivia", misc. button, white pen detailing and a few dollar store leaves. Click images for larger detail.

This next layout below features the Pina Colada and Kamakaze papers, BG Ribbon Doilies "Olivia", Prima "Eclatte" flowers, MME Breaking Free Sunkissed Sweet clear die-cut, American Crafts Thickers "Berry", Maya Road Ruffle Edge Trim "Yellow", Rose Moka Delirium Mini Alphas , misc. button, white pen detailing and dollar store yellow flowers.

This layout below is my favorite of the three! It features Rose Moka "Daquiri" paper, ZVA Creative "Butterfly & Mushroom", BG Ribbon Doilies "Olivia" , American Crafts Thickers "Berry", Magenta Chipboard Birds, ColorBox Smooch Spritz in "Carrot Cake", Martha Stewart butterfly clear stamps, white pen detailing, misc. flowers, misc. embossing powder, misc. foam stamp for corner detail.

To stamp the Smooch Spritz in the corner I just sprayed a large clear acrylic stamping block with the spritz and then dipped the foam stamp into the ink, makes for easy cleanup! The birds were sprayed and then dabbed with a wet-wipe to soften the color as was the white cardstock used to make the butterflies.

This next project is simply the front cover on a journal. It's a great way to personalize your journal and give it some character. I used Blue Lagoon paper, BG Ribbon Doilies "Olivia", ZVA Creative "Butterfly & Mushroom", a few handcut butterflies and some "Crystal" Stickles.

And lastly here are a few cards the first one uses a CC Designs stamp called "Sailor Honey", ColorBox Smooch Spritz in "Carrot Cake", Rose Moka Delirium Mini Alphas, white cardstock, Rose Moka "Daquiri" paper and Basic Grey's "Bling It" in Lilac.

This card below was super simple and quick to make. Simply use the backing from the Basic Grey Ribbon Doilies as a mask along the bottom of the card front, spray it with the Smooch Spritz, remove backing and let dry, add Thickers, Eclatte flowers(separated) and BG Bling It (separated) and add white pen detailing.

This week's NEW arrivals

With each shipment, I am getting a little more nostalgic! I LOVE this stuff! I mean- really really really LOVE this stuff! I have had the extreme honor of spreading scrappy supplies through my whole basement for so long. I am going to miss getting the first peek at EVERYTHING. I am going to miss goodness arriving in multitudes by UPS. I am going to miss so much....

But I suppose you are not here to see (hear?) me get all misty eyed! What was the cause of all the sighing... and oooohing.... and ahhhhing? This:

Tattered Angels Glitter Glam arrived. How much fun does this look like? Cannot wait to play....

Graphic 45 has such a unique look- always love their papers, and now they have added embellishments!!! Can you say ecstatic???? Seriously... Check out the Steampunk Debutante line. Love how Graphic 45 mixed a very masculine idea and softened it with lovely feminine details. And you could swear they teamed up with Artistic Outpost for the stamp!

A perfectly timed shipment from Bo Bunny arrived this week! Kids were heading back to school, first days photos were snapped across the country, and look! what came through the door? Learning Curve:0)

Scrapbook Trends September issue is now here, along with this very inspiring idea book filled with Holiday ideas! This will not last in store long!

Sun Kissed Bo Bunny

This week I have been working with Bo Bunny's Sun Kissed line of papers and I have to say they are so bright, fun and perfect for your summer photos!!

I loved the patterns, the die cut papers and the colours. Check out this fun paper shape!!

The little clouds and the extra title that I pop dotted were hand cut out of the Bo Bunny Sun Kissed Squeeze Me paper. I can see soo many titles, card accents and layout embellishments coming from that one sheet!!!
The title block was cut from the Bo Bunny Sun Kissed Paper sheet. Lots to use on that as well. You just have to love when you can get sooo much use out of one sheet of paper!!
The green flowers, were white Heidi Swapp flowers sprayed with Smooch Spritz. And I can't say enough how powerful and glittery this spray is. Doesn't matter what colour, it is just awesome! Hard to tell from the photo, but those flowers are mouth wateringly sparkly!!!!

Here I used the wavy paper Bo Bunny Sun Kissed Paper adventure. I hand cut out the tree on the bottom left and pop dotted it to give it some depth. And again I used a title block from the Bo Bunny Sun Kissed Paper Cut Out sheet, for my title.

The little title letter stickers are Rose Moka Delirium Stickers, the colours and variety of colours matched perfectly!! The bigger orange alphabets are from Prima and the little orange stickers are from My Little Shoebox.

This next layout is one of my favourites because of the great photo I caught of my son Jaxon. I know I am biased, but he is just so cute!!!
I used the rest of that awesome wavy paper Bo Bunny Sun Kissed Paper Adventure

I used a bunch of different chipboard heart shapes from my stash and covered them with the different patters from this line. And down in the left hand corner, you can see I cut out many of the different circle designs from Bo Bunny Sun Kissed Paper Sun Kissed and used Basic Grey's Glazed Brads in the middle of them. In fact I used those brads on all 3 of the pages, they went so well and add just that perfect touch.

So if you haven't already bought this line, run off to the store and grab it up, then get playing. This line is so colourful, inspiring and fun to work with!

Tuesdays Tip

Making Fabric Flowers with Spray Starch.

If you have a Sizzix, Big Shot, Cuttlebug or another Die Cutting machine, you can use fabric and cut out soo much fun!

I used basic circles here. Some of the more fancy intricate diecuts, may not work so well; at least that is what I have found. I may need to play with how to stack the plates and add more shims. But basic shapes work pretty well, and I love fabric on my pages so this just opened up a whole new area for me!!

First thing I did was cut different sizes of circles from different patterns and material.

Then for some of them I made small cuts all around the outside of the circle, forming petals.

For some of the others, I just gently pulled and stretched them to give them a 'frayed' look.

Then I laid them down on paper and sprayed them with the Spray Starch. I found this stuff in the grocery store, in the laundry area.

While they were drying I periodically crumpled them. Some of them stayed in little balls of fabric and others unfolded on their own. When they dry, they will hold some of the shape and crumpledness.

Once they were dry; I let them dry over night, I uncrumpled them and used Stix2 glue to glue them together. And on some of them I attached a button. Others I have attached bling, pearls, foam circles, chipboard, brads; and the list can go on :).

I just wanted to note, that I tried to speed up the drying process with my heat gun and it worked for some of the fabric and burned some; turning them brown. So be careful if you try that.

The two other flowers on the page are just cardstock circles cut around the outside and glued together.

Friday's Challenge let's Create Cards

This weekends challenge is to get started creating that new stack of cards, choose any theme you want. This challenge is to help you find your mojo and maybe get jump start on Xmas Cards is you wish.
My card is a masculine theme... I never seem to have cards ready to give for men.
I designed this card using stamping methods: Blocked Collage, Faux Metal, and Pulled Glimmers using (Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist) which are all techniques from Technique Junkies.
I used Tim Holtz Distress inks and sticky notes to create my blocked collage background.
The stamps are from Artisitic Outpost " Steam Punk ". I used Sizzix Tim Holtz Texture Fades Plate Collage and Notebook to create the Faux Metal background.

Summer is officially over- the week has had a hectic pace not seen since school let out. It was back to school for my daughter and my husband and the accompanying rush of double checking lists and last minute trips to the mall. The renovations we started in June are still incomplete- although we do have flooring everywhere but the bathrooms now, and new cabinets hanging in the kitchen, albeit without doors or counter tops (which in the end is harder to live with than no flooring). Add to the mix some very welcome company and you have a situation that finishes the summer in style!

Here is what is new in store this week:
~The super cool i-rock tool from Imaginisce! I cannot wait to see what everyone is altering with this!!!!
~Artistic Outpost stamps are here! Scrapbooking Fanatics is the first store in Canada to carry this stamp company.
~Most of our Prima order came in and as usual they did not disappoint! I love the rich colors of the Paisley Road paper line and the fall flowers. As well, lots of Prima items have been put on sale to make some room. Check out the great deals!
~New to Scrapbooking Fanatics are C.C. Designs stamps! These images are super-cute and lots of fun to color and play with.

As well, the Basic Grey order arrived today and preorders with the Origins fabric, 2011 Calendar, and the Page of the Month kits are ready to ship. I will be uploading the Basic Grey Pyrus, Jovial and Wander lines tomorrow.

Graphic 45 and Alice in Wonderland

What's not to love about this fabulous Paper Line. Graphic 45 really kicked it off the shelf; when, they transformed Alice and her friends into spooky characters.

Here are four Scrapbook layouts showcasing some pretty interesting characters...some of which, are my friends and some...???? Maybe I am related to...!!!!

All of the patterned paper used for these layouts is from Graphic 45 - Halloween in Wonderland. With the exception of the last two layouts, I added my own background paper by Distress/Dragging with various colors of Tim Holtz Distress ink pads on the Third layout and over-spraying with Colorbox Smooch Spritz. The last layout, with the lavender cardstock, was stamped with Artistic Outpost Haunted Halloween stamp plate.. and oversprayed with Colorbox Smooch Spritz spray. The vintage looking witch which is just below the hand, is also from the Artistic Outpost Haunted Halloween set. I had a blast working with this yummy paper line...thanks so much Jayme...!!!

Stamping Tips and Techniques Tuesday

Today I want to share with Scrapbooking Fanatics readers, a technique that I use to master stamping with those extremely large rubber or acrylic stamps. There has been a huge transition from stamping with the wood block rubber stamps to acrylic and cling mounted rubber. So what does one do when your stamp exceeds the size of your largest block?
I use a clear cake pan with handles, the handles alow me to exert just the right amount of pressure to attain a clear crisp image.
In the pictures above, my cardstock is 12 x12 and the glass cake pan is 9x13. The acrylic stamp is one solid stamp called Clock Collage by Harmonie, which measures five and half inches wide by eight and three quarters long.
Another resourcful way to cover a large area, is to place numerous smaller stamp images on the backside of a large clear baking dish. This is a very time saving and innovative way to quickly create your own collage scenery on 12x12 Cardstock.
If you are stamping with fine images, especially those wonderful photo stamps; try placing a thin sheet of packing foam or fun foam underneath your cardstock. This should guarantee you a crisp stamped image.
I like to use my foam mat from my Provo Craft Colluzzle Cutting package.

I don't know what it is about this stuff, but it makes my heart happy:0) I ordered this quite a while ago and was shocked to discover that I forgot how many new colors there were! 16, not 8... I especially love the Donna Salazar colors- just a great collection of neutral colors and the black velvet is one I will use often!

Also new this week are more cuttlebug folder sets. These are made to match some of the cricut cartridges coming soon, but are filled with awesome designs on their own. As well, the Extended Plate 'c' has come in.

Also new are the totally fun "Halloween in Wonderland" papers from Graphic 45. Love the versatility of this line- great for halloween pictures, but the reverse side offers great colors and patterns for fall, heritage, and tea party pages.

You will also find the August Scrapbook Trends in store, and the new Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine and fall Studios edition.

Hockey Card Mania and more

This past Spring, I was cleaning out the attic and came across my husbands old hockey card collection. I brought them out and he shared them with the boys and since then, they have been on a hockey card collecting frenzy.

I used more of the Fancy Pants Like Father Like Son collection. I cut out lots of the circles from the design, and placed black cardstock behind. Then with those cut out circles I used them as the embellishments. I pop dotted them and put them along the bottom of my photo block.

This is fabulous paper for lots of your everyday photos; boys or girls!!

Canadian Scrapbooker!!

I love this magazine! I makes me smile every time I open one. I think I have every issue they have put out, missing only 2 or 3.

The magazine is full of ideas, inspiration, creativity and information.
And I love how strong it is, meaning heavy weight pages. Makes it easy to read on your lap in a vehicle, or at the beach or right beside the fire in winter!

Their website is full of great ideas too, including those great webisodes!!! Which I have to admit I just watched one for the first time the other day and LOVED it! If you haven't checked them out follow the link above and explore!

Way back when I was a young woman in my 20s I had a vision of what my life would be. I was married quite young (by today's standards) and Mark and I finished university together as a married couple. We were in no hurry to start a family, focusing first on establishing ourselves in our careers and on each other. Even still, I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do and so took many amazing opportunities that I didn't know existed. I have had many challenging jobs that I have loved, immersed myself in and thrived at. Play therapist, child development educator, restaurant manager, education assistant, parent educator and car seat safety expert are some of the titles I have worn in my pre-mommy lifetime.

Then came the time when Mark and I were ready to have children. We were stable, settled and still in love! Getting pregnant was a challenge however and it took us five years of practice and even some medical intervention before we came to the realization that children may not be in the cards for us. We cried. And determined that it was time to stop missing out on the things we were putting on hold while waiting for babies. We stepped into our new lives.... and promptly got pregnant!

Enter Avery. She was bright, feisty and determined and we were smitten. And grateful. Instantly priorities changed.... when dreaming about my grown up life as a young woman I never thought I would be the stay-at-home type. I imagined a life working in a downtown tower of some big city doing something terribly important and intellectual. Instead, I was most surprised to find that I wanted to be at home with her. This was especially surprising to me because I was raised by a stay at home Mom who never found that role particularly satisfying. We were loved for sure, but I think Mom felt stifled by her options and so I never thought that choosing to be at home with your children was even something to be considered.

If you are still with me as I ramble, here is the point:
Owning my own business was one of those aforementioned amazing-opportunities-that-I-didn't-know-existed. Scrapbooking Fanatics has allowed me to work from home, combining my great passion for this hobby and my surprising need to be at home with my daughter. I don't know if it is because we waited so long to receive her, or if it would have been the same if we easily squeezed out most of a ball team. In the end it doesn't matter. It is.

And it is the reason that it is time for me to say goodbye to Scrapbooking Fanatics. The certainty of this hit me a few months ago, but I have waited and sat with the decision for a while. To feel it. To check for doubts, second thoughts. I don't know what I will do from here on, but I do know this: Avery has changed and her needs have changed. Now she is in school full time (off to second grade already!!!!) and I no longer need to be in the house all day. I am traveling on weekends to trade shows and crops through fall and spring.... and I am missing out at home. It is time for me to change too.

It will be business as usual through August and September. I am ordering lots of new CHA goodies (have you seen the Tim Holtz for Sizzix release???)- those that arrive in this time frame. Scrapbooking Fanatics is hosting a crop in Elk Point on the weekend of September 17 and will be attending Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine's 'Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival' in Edmonton the first weekend in October. Once those events are over Scrapbooking Fanatics will begin it's close out process.

I don't know what I will be going to but I do know this: not having a plan has brought me unimagined possibilities before and I am excited to see what will come about this time! In the past 4 years Scrapbooking Fanatics has brought me amazing, rich experiences, opportunities for learning and over-the-top wonderful friends. For that I am grateful and blessed. Thank-you.

This scrapbook page is of my grandaughter who is showing surprise when opening her Birthday gifts.

Pattered Paper is Echo park : Sweet Summer Time. Flowers from Bo Bunny, Chipboard Flower from Magenta which I covered with Stampendous Fuzzy Fun Fock....I used a Two-Way Glue Pen, and pressed the flock into the chipboard flower. I was a little intimidated to try this product, but it was easy peazy to use.

Tips and Techniques Tuesday - Masking Stamped Images

Stamp image to be used for layer masking on thin copy paper. Cut carefully with fine sharp scissors. Cut directly on the image line, remove any white areas around and between the image. This is the trick to having a clean and crisp layered look when your apply your inks.

Using a Zig two-way glue pen, I place dots of glue all over image. Be sure to place some dots close to the edges of your stamped image.

Heat set the glue, do not overheat, just enough so that the glue is tacky.

Figure four

Press and lift your your masked image about two times onto some paper. This will help to remove excess glue, so when you remove from the actual stamped image, you will not tear paper or remove ink.

Lay masking copy ontop of stamped image. In this example I have used white glossy Cardstock stamped with Ranger Black Archival Ink...I heat set the ink to be sure it was dry. Now, you can color, with your choice of ink mediums and applicators. I used sponge daubers.

You can use various applicators, sponges, color duster brushes. I like to color my images with Tim Holtz Distress inks using the Fantastix Coloring tool.

Here are two samples using masking Techniques.

The horse stamp in the first image is from Impression Obsession. The second sample shows how to mask with multiple images. Stamps are by Artistic Outpost, Cutie Pie stamp plate.

Hello to Scrapbooking Fanatics Readers

Here we are, the beginning of August and summer is slipping by. Today I would like to give a special " Shout Out " to Online Friends.

Being involved in this industry, has afforded me opportunities to meet so many wonderful people throughout the world. I can safely say, that is does not matter what culture or country we come from; our passions and commonalities are united to form a special bond. Yes, we all love... to create, share and of course the best part is collecting products.

Riet Van Zundert from Tilburg, a small city in the south of the Netherlands, was one of those people I quickly connected with. Riet is surrounded with lots of forests and beautiful nature; which is clearly depicted in her scenery cards.

She is a mother of a daugher who is 24 and a son who is 20. Her wonderful husband Harry, supports her hobby and even goes to the craft store with her.

Riet does freelance design work for different scrapbook and rubberstamp stores.

Fancy Pants Fun - SF DT stuff

Jayme sent me the most fabulous box of scrapbooking supplies!

In there was the awesome Fancy Pants; like Father like Son line.
And those cute cute little tickets by Maya Road, and the Jenni Bowlin butterflies, that I LOVE!! (- blue are sold out, only pink left, grab them quick!!)

You can see how I used these wonderful supplies below. The colours were just amazing with these photos of my ds.
The title was cut out of the pattern paper and pop dotted. I added ribbon from my stash, a Martha Stewart butterfly punch, buttons, and Basic Grey chipstickers.

One of my favourite papers is 'Superhero'. It is beautiful!! I outlined the word 'superhero' and then used little stickers to help it stand out even more.

I also used Tim Holtz grungeboard and ran it through my Sizzix to cut out the small snowflakes. I love that grunge board and how durable but workable it is!! I see lots of things with this stuff!!! I sprayed them with Smooch Spritz in Electric Blue and Silver Foil. - which I HIGHLY recommend these colours!!
Using those two same colours, I sprayed half of my RAW alphabets with each colour. These sprays cover RAW chipboard sooo well!! It is a bit hard to photograph the sparkle and glimmer, but these colours are VERY sparkly!!

Don't let the name fool you, this paper is full of great colours and designs for your girls too!
This next page is of my daughter.
I hand cut out the circle, star pattern from this paper. I love it! Fast and easy embellishing. I used a star punch from my stash to add some depth and some older chipboard from my stash. The alphabet is from Sassafras and is very sparkly too! And I used another one of those FAB butterflies from Jenni Bowlin.

Are you a RAW chipboard fanatic like me?
Do you like to buy lots of chipboard, and especially RAW chipboard, like MAYA ROADs goodies?

I LOVE RAW chipboard because I can then change it to whatever colour I like by inking, painting or covering with sooo many different materials.

One of my favourite ways to dress up RAW chipboard is ink or glimmer mists. Once you ink them, or spray them though you usually have to wait quite a while before it is dry and you get a 'true' colour. And sometimes the dried colour is not what I was looking for.

To solve this problem, I used the negative piece from an alphabet and inked it up with different shades of the same colour. Once it was dry I wrote the colour name down for each shade.

Now all I have to do when using RAW chipboard is just lay this piece over top and I know what colour matches best!

I have done this with my glimmer mists as well. Some of the mists colour or 'cover' really well, and some not so much. The tester piece helps me remember what they look like dried and I don't have to waste any of my loved mists.

My negative RAW chipboard pieces come from Basic Greys alphabets - another of my favs!

CHA Summer 2010 has started!! I LOVE seeing new product, love making a 'HAVE TO HAVE' list and then of course the best part is filling that list!

Bo Bunny and a sketch FINALLY!

Summertime...everyone is so busy trying to soak up the sun and enjoy time with the family and does it ever go fast! Have you been taking any time to scrapbook? Last night, I took the time to go into my COOL basement and create a quick layout. Since I used the Pagemaps sketch posted below, it took no time at all! My left over Bo Bunny paper was perfect for this layout. I added some red maple leaf stamped images onto the patterned paper to make it fit my layout better. Why not give it a go...take just one hour tonight and create something...you'll feel better! :) Karen sent me her take on the PageMaps sketch, just look at how beautiful it is!!!!! She used some Basic Gery Olivia PP and die cut paper strip, the olivia CB stickers and a tad of JB soup alpha's tiny CC alpha's and some 7 gypsies stickers

Technique Tuesday!

Friday Challenges

It's Friday! Yah!!!
Friday means some challenges here on the Scrapbooking Fanatics blog!

I have been having some camera issues, so I have no new things to load. So for the challenges I will use older layouts I have done in the past.

I did have something I wanted share with you, but my camera won't upload. It was using Smooch Spritz in Electric Blue and Silver. I used both on some chipboard letters and LOVED it. Blue on the top and Silver on the bottom. If you haven't gotten the SMOOCH spritz yet, you have too!!! You will be amazed at the sparkle and shine and how well it covers raw chipboard with just a few sprays!!!

I need to send my camera in to be fixed, but the thought of being without it makes me soo sad. Especially when we have so many great photo opportunities coming up. Sigh, but there always is; I just need to do it.

Anyways, onto the challenges!!

Challenge #1 - Paint and Foam Stamps
Remember those? Do you still have them?
I do, stuffed away under the counter. Time to bring them out and play!! If you don't have any, just use your regular stamps and ink.

Challenge #2 - Icecream eating!!
It is time for icecream and frozen treats! Scrapbook someone eating some!! This is my son, the creamsicle melted faster than he could even open it!!!

I missed my post last week- had company and Canada celebrations, so I have lots to tell you about this week!

First off, the mid-season release from Basic Grey arrived and is packed with inspiration as usual! Check out Oliver and Olivia. Olivia is also featured in the August Page of the Month, and there are a few extras in store. I always order an extra few kits over what the subscribers need- I think they are a great way to get a good selection of a paper line. You get lots of paper, complete embellishment packs and instructions for a two page spread (which you don't have to follow, of course). The page was designed by Canada's own Vicki Boutin!!!

Tips and Techniques Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!
It is so wonderfully sunny here in BC, finally!!!

Today I am sharing a simple easy tip to add some extra pizzaz to any card. Take a border punch and punch along the 'top' of your card. This won't work so well along the fold, so your card will need to be a 'portrait' type.

I used an EK Success border punch on these cards:

Isn't it cute! I think that edge goes so well with those cute critters from My Little Shoebox papers. Can you imagine the edge you would get with this Martha Stewart edge punch! I think it would add that perfect soft touch to a card!

This first layout is of my grandson, peeking around the tree....isn't he a cutie. Patterned Paper is by Lily Bee Designs: Trinket, Splendid and Picnic. Hello Sunshine Word Rubons.

The Geometric Chipboard is by Riff Raff Designs. I painted the chipboard with Ranger Pigment Ink - Denin and Sail Boat Blue and then applied Ranger Distress Crackle Paint: Broken China.

Basic Grey: Micro Chipboard Alpha Stickers and Buttons.

My second scrapbook page is another one of my grandsons, yes these two boys are adorable I am truly blessed. He is a sunshine boy.

Patterned Paper is from Lily Bee Designs: Fly a Kite and Blueberry Pie. All the journaling is from the Hello Sunshine Rubon Sheet. The large circle scallop was black Cardstock die cut from my circut machine. I painted over the Cardstock with Pigment inks, Crackle paints and oversprayed off with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Blue Jazz.

My last scrapbook page is of my father holding his greatgrandaughter, a proud moment for grandpa. Two babies born this year in my family; again, I am truly blessed..and a very good reason to buy more scrapbooking goodies.

The Patterned Paper on this layout is from Harmonie and the coral eyelet trim is from Websters Pages. I adhered stones into the centre of the eyelet holes...The large flower is from Prima: Fairyring - Coral Reef. I wanted to bring in some color to compliment my grandaughter's outfit. I sprayed the reverse side (white) of a Basic Grey Doilie with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Spray: Patina, what a perfect match. Jounaling fonts were diecut from my Cricut Machine.

Tips and Techniques Tuesday

Hello to Scrapbooking Fanatics readers, Tuesday is our Tips and Techniques day. I would like to share with you embossing on metal using the Big Shot Machine, Ranger Alcohol Inks and the new Tim Holtz Alterations line - Texture Fades embossing folders.

The Flourish in the last image is from Tim Holtz Alterations line, I covered the flourish with Gold Leaf flakes - from La D'ore and applied it with their liquid adhesive. The second image showcases a another wonderful Sizzix Die from the Tim Holtz Alterations line.. the Hearts and Wings Bigz Diecut. The journal embossed phrase, is from Stamper's Anonymous (Just Words) by Wendy Leach.
The Tim Holtz Distress inks used on this altered piece are: Barn Door, Shabby Shutters, Rusty Hinges, and Wild Honey.

Techniques:

This was a piece of Gold Metal which I applied Ranger Alcohol Inks with the Applicator and Blending Solution.

Insert your Metal piece into Alterations Texture Fades...this particular folder is called Checker Boards. Be sure it is right side up.

Emboss your piece with the Big Shot Machine and then Trim as desired.

Gently sand your embossed metal using a light touch going in a circular motion. Continue to sand until you are satisfied with the look you have achieved...

TIP

For a brushed metal look, I use a make-up sponge and apply with a light sweeping motion, Ranger's Black Archival Ink...or for a more antique glaze look, try using Distress ink pad - Rusty Hinge. Heat set your creation with a heat gun. Be very cautious not to over heat the metal.

Here is another sample of a metal sheet I did, using Texture Fades folder called "Patch Work"

The Ranger Alcohol Ink combos are: Shell Pink, Salmon, Watermelon, and Raspberry. The second layer of Alochol Inks are: Aqua, Pool, Willow, Lemonade and Pitch black.

Hello to fellow Scrap Fans…today is Monday and our special day we pay tribute to someone of elicit notice.
A big ‘Shout Out’ to Jayme Loge…Scrapbooking Fanatics enterprising and ambitious store owner…
Jayme is, distinctively, an amazing person with a special spirit and a very contagious energy.
What always amazes me, is how she manages to touch all the bases in her personal life; and Scrapbooking Fanatics store - with such grace and fortitude… I wonder - when does this gal sleep..??
In this industry, scrapbookers are full of activity and have a passion about their products. Jayme has an approach that makes each and everyone of us feel special; and, that is quite a commission which requires an extraordinary character.
Jayme describes herself as having a dry sense of humour, which sometimes gets her into trouble. She commented that she often laughs at inappropriate things.
Before owning the store, Jayme was training to be a play therapist. She has an interest in the human brain and neuroscience.
I asked her how did you came about to own Scrapbooking Fanatics??
Jayme says,” it was opportunity knocking at the right time.. I was looking for work and Jackie Ludlage was wanting to sell the store.”
“Avery was very young and I wanted to work at home; so here we are four years later.”

Here are a couple gerogous layouts and very creative cards that Jayme created over the years.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!!

It's Friday, that means the weekend is up next. It's also unofficially the start of summer vacation. It officially starts June 28, but today we have a field trip to the lake and Monday is basically assembly and report cards.
I love summer because we really have no schedule when I'm not working and can do whatever we want, whenever we want! We spend a lot of time at the lake and the ocean! I love having my kids home with me.

My challenge for today has 2 parts. To celebrate the end of the school year, scrap a LO celebrating the end of the school year!! No school or kids? Scrap a LO celebrating the end of something or celebrating this time of year!!! For this LO try using only one manufacturer!! Only exception is card stock!!

Here's mine!! I used Basic Grey from the BG monthly page kit I got at the shop!! I LOVE this line!!! I added one brad not in the kit, but it is BG! :)

This is my baby girl 4 years ago, isn't she adorable?!!!

A quick rundown of what's new!

I am on zoo duty with my daughter's class today, so here is a quick update on what is new:
My colorbox order came in, and so the smooch colors are restocked (with a new LOWER price!) as well as the color catcher:0) You can also find new chalk ink pads and reinkers as well as new design adhesives.

More cuttlebug folders arrived, along with the longer plates for 12" dies. Be Creative tape is here.You can emboss with this tape, and it has serious stick, as well as lots on a roll. Very economical tape! I'll be adding the Glitter Ritz glitters for some fun glitter techniques that are awesome with this tape.

BoBunny's Block Party line came in as did the Sun Kissed line.

Scrapbook Trends magazine and idea book, new Cloth, Paper, Scissors issue and new Cardmaker magazine issues are in.

Serenade cricut cartridge is here. I made a mini order with Magenta, and love love these corrugated shapes and papers as well as the book board covers. They are the most sturdy I have found for making your own mini albums!

Window to Wednesday's Creations!

I have had so much fun creating with the goodies Jayme sent me from Scrapbooking Fanatics!!! She has so much great stuff there!!! The Creative Imaginations Oceana Line I've used is perfect for those hot weather LO's!!! I always like their stuff, and this latest line sure measures up!!

Here are the LO's I've created!!

For this I used Bazill CS, which I sprayed with Tattered Angels Shimmer Mist (I got this with a SF kit last year I think it was?) to add a little shimmer to the page. I also used:
Maya Road chipboard word
Creative Imaginations Oceana Alphas
Creative Imaginations Oceana PP and Sticker
Fancy Pants Brad

I love this Creative Imaginations Line!!!

Here I used Bazill CS, more fabulous summery Creative Imaginations pp and alphas, a Prima flower, some Fancy Pants Brads, and that ribbon I absolutely love!!! All of this is available in Scrapooking Fanatics.

More of that gorgeous ribbon on this LO, and I am in love with this Prima Flower and Butterfly!!! They were perfect for this page and these papers!! More of the Creative Imaginations Oceana line here, some Bazill cs, and a couple more Prima flowers!!

For this LO I cut some of the Creative Imaginations die cut card stock, also used a bottle top from the shop and some shells from Cuba to fill it!!

And last, but certainly not least is this LO...it was actually pretty simple to do once I decided what I was going to do, the Harmonie Chipboard from Scrapbooking Fanatics is what makes the LO in my opinion!! Love it!!! I also added some Making Memories mini alphas I got from the shop quite a while ago! :)

Tuesday's Tip!!!

I hope you are all having a good start to the week!!

Today's scrapbooking tip is an easy one for all of us and doesn't add a lot of time to putting together a page!!

Sometimes on a LO I want to add a little something or a quote, but there's not really a space that I feel it fits. So try using the 'white space' on your photographs to journal, doodle, embellish, add rub ons, etc. A very simple but effective technique to jazz up your LO!!

Here's my sample...I chose to use a variety of rub ons I have in my scrap space.

I love the quote by Dr. Seuss!!! It's hard to read, it says "Oh, the places we go!" That's a Daisy Bucket rub on. Also used some Fancy Pants Rub ons from their new girl line (in the store!!), and a couple of other older rub ons from ?... I also used Bazill cardstock, Creative Imaginations pp (one page is from SF last year that I've been 'saving'...and another is one of their latest releases "Oceana" also available in the shop!!), the ribbon I absolutely LOVE and it's in the shop too!!! Also used a Prima Flower and Jillibean Flowers, Fancy Pants brads, and the lettering is the Basic Grey lettering from the monthly page kit, all from Scrapbooking Fanatics. Love it!!

Manic Monday!

I was looking through all the inspiring work on 'The Wall', there is so much to see! Today I'm giving a Shout Out! to Wendy! I love this LO of hers, the b/w photo is perfect with the colors she's chosen and how she's embellished the LO is fantastic! The flowers are so cute, love the rik rak stems! Great LO, Wendy!!

Do you do much swimming in the summer? Are you a lake or ocean person? Of course this may depend on where you live! Do you even like swimming in lakes or oceans? I love swimming, but really I don't enjoy it very much when I can't see what's underneath me!!! Crazy I know!! I used to swim more in the ocean when I was younger, now I take the occasional dip in the lake with the kids. Otherwise I'm not much of a water person unless it's in a pool or somewhere tropical!!

Tim Holtz Folder and Stamp Collage!

One of the funny things about having an online store is that I send pizza boxes all over Canada (and beyond!) and rarely get to see what happens to those goodies. I LOVE it when someone shares their work with me, just like Karen did! Karen dove into her new Tim Holtz for Sizzix folders, as well as his stamps from Stamper's Anonymous and created this hand stitched collage.

There is a little Maya Road on here, Basic Grey Manilla papers... all sorts of other goodies! I love how Karen took Tim's products and 'girled' them up!

In Elk Point: It's All About Jake Crop

This is a special invite to you for a great cause. Recently friend's of ours in Elk Point received some very bad news. Their 5 year old autistic son was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia, called ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Jake is in the Stollery hospital, undergoing treatments as I write this. He is responding well, but this is a long process as it may take up to three years for his treatments to be completed.

Obviously, Stacey needs to be in Edmonton with him, and Real will be there as much as possible. They also have another son, Bo, who is 3 year's old. The town of Elk Point is rallying together to help support Stacey and Real as much as possible. Stacey is a cardmaker and a scrapbooker, so we decided to do a SCRAPBOOKING/CRAFTING weekend to help raise money for them. Here are the details:

When

July 16 (6:00 - 12:00)

July 17 (9:00 - 12:00)

July 18 (9:00 - 2:00)

Cost: $100 (all of which will go to Jake and his family)

Food

We are trying to keep it simple, so there will be a light breakfast of coffee, juices, and muffins available on Saturday and Sunday. Meat, cheese, crackers, and chips are being provided to snack on. The details on supper havn't been ironed out yet, but there will be a supper on Saturday night, and a lunch on Sunday, both for free.

Location

Elk Point Elementary School gym - they will not be charging us, more money towards Jake! If you want to bring your RV, there is room to park it across the street in the arena parking lot.Since we will be in the gym, there will be plenty of room to work!

We will be having doorprizes and prize baskets for draws during the weekend. If you would like to help in any way, please call us! As a community, we can all help Stacey, Real, Jake, and Bo!

Happy Wednesday everyone!!! This week, I had the chance to play with a line that I have never used before....the Girls Paperie, and I sure LOVE it!!! What a BEAUTIFUL line of paper. Check out the matching charms at the bottom of my page! I also used October Afternoon Mini Market stickers and Maya Road Mini Tickets. Here is a super easy card. I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder...isn't it GORGEOUS? I also used the left over paper from the above layout the Girl's Paperie.

This next card also uses a Tim Holtz embossing folder and the Girl's Papiere paper.....totally inspired by Jillians card that was featured on this blog.

Here is a super easy way to make your own cute flower embellies:
1st, cut a piece of cardstock 1 3/4"x12", I used MME patterned paper.
Then, using your Scor-it-All, or your paper trimmer, score your cardstock every 1/4", don't forget to flip your paper every time you score as you are creating an accordion effect. Fold your cardstock into an accordion

You can now glitter or ink your edges, if you like

Using a strong adhesive, glue your two ends together like so,

Now, take a circle or scallop punch and from a scrap piece of cs, punch a base. Then using a strong liquid adhesive, put a generous dollop of glue in the centre, I used Ranger Glossy Accents.

Push your accordian into the flower shape..this may take a bit of persuasion, but with a little patience, it will work! Then place the folded flower onto your glue base. Hold for a few minutes so that your glue can set.

Embellish as desired!

Here are a few that my 10 year old dd and I made in about 1/2 hour, are they cute or what? I can't wait to use them on a layout!!!!

Now for the question of the day:
what are your plans for the summer, and do any of them involve scrapbooking??
We have lots of small camping trips planned and I always try to stash away a small tote of scrappy stuff JUST IN CASE it rains. Of course, I would never take the tote out if we were not trailer bound LOL!
We also have a small scrappy get together in the works for July, a fundraiser for a local family.
