Hitting the Ice

It's difficult to find hockey paper and embellishments, so I really enjoyed working with Karen Foster's hockey paper, cardstock stickers and bubble brads.  Here is a double page layout I did featuring my daughter, Arianna playing hockey and her fans.

Thanks!

2 Page Layout By Alanna

Good day to all!

Today is a posting done by Alanna.  Enjoy!

This is a two page layout that I did using:

Bo Bunny Country Garden patterned paper and embellishments
Prima Flowers
Pink Paislee Tape,
Love my Tape
Maya Road Chipboard
Tim Holtz's Crackle Paint

It's fun to alter products! Here are a view ideas I used on these layouts. I used the Crackle Paint on the fence and FAMILY. I painted them, then embossed it using a versa pen, followed by orange stickles.  I also used chalk ink on the "Love My Tapes" lace tape.  Last of all, it's easy to alter paper with punches.  I used a small circle punch to make a border. I should also mention that the flowers used are by Prima (small white daisy) and I also chalked them with the appropriate colour.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hello to All!

I apologize for the void on the blog lately.....Unfortunately, I had received some very sad health news about my Mom....(she won't be impressed that I'm sharing this news).....she is doing well, and is just an amazing person!  She has been diagnosed with incurable lung cancer and will be starting chemo this week.  My daughter and I took a quick trip to Vancouver to visit her.  We had a fantastic time!  My family and I are doing well, for it's hard to be down when my Mom handles situations with such grace and acceptance.  Well, I'm back and ready to get things rolling!!

First of all, I would like to give a big Thank YOU and jobs well done to Jayme and Avery!!!  I'm sorry my thoughts had been a bit postponed but what amazing job you both did!  I have been truly inspired and can't wait to try some of your ideas.

I also wanted to share with you that the website has/is going through very small and gradual changes.  I had many troubles when I started my adventure, and realized that it would be better for me to take very small steps in this regard.  Therefore,  a few upgrades have happened and I am working on more exciting things!  So far, I have noticed in the "New Arrivals" section,  that all items are now coming up alphabetically rather than last items entered.  Before, I would just go to the last page and scroll backwards to see the newest products, but now you have to scroll through all.  I will do my best to keep the "New Arrivals" new, so there won't be as much to scroll through.

Lastly, I want to wish all of you a wonderful MOTHER'S DAY!!!  I hope you celebrate well!  Please make this day all about YOU!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Paper Crafting with Avery!

When Sandy told me that the Friday feature could be something that my daughter created, I immediately thought she would go for it! I talked to her and she knew right away what she wanted to do- teach people how to make paper beads.  She learned this at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival as one of the make and takes and has been toting supplies and teaching anyone that she could get to listen. I should note that this video was shot around 10:30 last night- way past her bedtime, lol. Despite being pretty tired, she did a great job. My favorite part is right at the end where she shows a little spark of her true personality! Without further ado, meet Avery!

Ikea Frame with Flare! (Or Fancy Pants... either is good!)

I love picking up frames made for several photos. They make a foundation for a great-looking photo project that is really easy to put together.  I made this one for my daughter's room, and she loves it.  It has been a bit of a tough year at school for her, and I wanted her to have something that would remind her everyday that who she is is special, wonderful and cherished.

Supplies used: Ikea frame; Everything else: Fancy Pants!

It is fun to think of the extra layer you have available to use because of the glass piece. I put the title on the top layer, but rubons work great here, as do bulkier items like flowers.  I ended up choosing a very simple layering because I wanted the focus to remain on the photos and the words.

Thanks for joining me this week! I've had a great time as guest designer at SF and want to thank Sandy for this opportunity!  Tomorrow's post will come from my daughter:0)

Everlasting Love!

Yup! We got it!

I don't know what comes over me, but when I scrapbook a picture of my husband I get all mushy inside!  Like school-girl giggly and all. We met in our first year of university, and were dating by Christmas '89.  We got married half-way through our university programs, much to my mother's annoyance who feared that we would give up on our education and ride off into the sunset.... Of course, I am more stubborn than that, as is my husband. After a year of working, saving and paying for the wedding we returned to our poor student life as a married couple.  We'll celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary this year, and he still makes my heart beat a little faster. Of course, he makes me roll my eyes now and then too, but we'll save that topic for another layout.  These pictures are a couple of years old now, but I love them still. Hope you enjoy!

Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Bo Bunny, My Mind's Eye: Chipboard: Fabscraps: Flowers, Mask: Prima; Ink: Ranger, Clearsnap; Stickers: Basic Grey; Punch: Fiskars.

The little 'Bird on a Wire' mask from Prima, was the perfect size to add a little interest behind the chipboard title.

See you tomorrow when I have a great photo project for you! Sometimes you just need to pretty up photos and hang them on the wall, not tuck them into albums (or stack them in drawers and on shelves waiting for that mythical 'someday').
